このコンテンツについて
This groundbreaking new recording performed by just two actors uses cutting-edge binaural sound to create the illusion of a full cast.
Nora seems to have it all – a loving husband, children and a comfortable life. But when a secret from her past threatens her carefully constructed world, she is forced to confront the stark realities of her marriage and the issues of her gender in society. The recording is followed by a fascinating conversation in which the actors talk how powerful and relevant the play still is today and how this unique project came to be. Exclusively for Audible the interview is followed by reviews of A Doll’s House, written between 1879 and 1900.
Alison Larkin is the multi award-winning narrator of over 250 audiobooks, including The Complete Novels of Jane Austen. Andrew Wincott is also an A-list narrator and actor who recently won a BAFTA award for his role as Rafael in the hit video game, Baldur’s Gate 3 and is perhaps most famous for his role of Adam in The Archers on BBC Radio.

With a little help from state-of-the-art production techniques and veteran acting talents, narrators Alison Larkin and Andrew Wincott give voice to nine characters and create the energy, intimacy, and acoustics of live theater in their presentation of Henrik Ibsen's 1879 groundbreaking masterwork about a woman's personal and economic awakening. At first, the world seems easy and bright with wife Nora's playful banter and husband Torvald's teasing, but when an old friend arrives and an intimate secret is about to be exposed, Nora must make a fateful decision. The choice to have only two actors playing all the parts works seamlessly, and Larkin nails the emotions of a wife who is telling her husband she can no longer be treated like a toy in a doll's house.
Classic theater indeed. B.P. © AudioFile 2024, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2024]
