John Lorenzo Hubbell established the post in 1878 (it has been a National Park since 1967) and it continues to serve members of the Navajo, Hopi, Zuni and other tribes as the oldest business in northern Arizona, as well as the oldest continuously operated trading post on the Navajo Reservation.
