あらすじ・解説
Eagles. Indians, Soldiers, and Cowboys is a work of historical fiction. During the Civil War, the state of Texas, and much of the Southwest Territories, struggled to protect their citizens from various hostile Indian Tribes. The war between the states created a power vacuum in 1861, when the US Army abandoned the state of Texas and moved its resources to the eastern front. The Confederacy, fighting an insane war to protect the institution of slavery, did not have the resources to address the Indian problem on a second front.
Historically, the Lone Star state protected its citizens from invaders and malevolent Native Americans. Once again, it rose to the defense of its own. In 1861, the legislature authorized the formation of volunteer militias to protect the settlers from Indian raids. These militias comprised men from all walks of life, farmers, ranchers, professionals, and sometimes rebellious neer-do-wells.
In addition, the proud tradition of the Texas Rangers continued in the defense of its citizenry. Ultimately, the rangers and volunteer militia were under the Confederacy's command, fighting to exterminate the Indigenous Americans. These circumstances were bound to create friction and spawn uncommon relationships and friendships. This book explores those dynamics and the sheer lunacy of war.
If you are a Civil War buff or a fan of eagles, Indians, soldiers, and cowboys, Listen to it.
