このコンテンツについて
In this book, we’ll be exploring the world of body dysmorphia—understanding what it is, how one can identify it, and how to deal with symptoms. It’s an incredibly complex issue that affects millions of people worldwide—both men and women—regardless of age, race, or creed. We hear all too often of the struggle that individuals go through with the condition, yet there’s still a lack of understanding about it. So let's start off by getting some basics down. What is body dysmorphia?
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is an intense preoccupation with one or more perceived flaws in physical appearance. It affects someone’s self-image, and can lead to extreme distress and anxiety. For example, if you look in a mirror and feel like you see something that isn't really there (like a blemish on your skin) or you think something about yourself looks distorted, then this could be considered BDD. While it might seem trivial to some, it can have a profound impact on those living with the disorder.
