このコンテンツについて
This book is for old people, anyone who knows old people, or anyone who contemplates becoming old. It assumes that we become wiser as we get older and make good decisions as we approach certain crossroads in life, familiar to people in their mature years that usually involve a loss of control over our relationships, bodies, occupations, and our day-to-day routines.
The flow of life carries us along almost imperceptibly. Its current is subtle enough to be felt only occasionally, as when we celebrate a birthday or cross the street to work for the thousandth time. It can also come to mind when we notice the children around us, now into their adulthood.
Denial is a beautiful thing until the day we can't ignore that the current has threatened to strand us on the shore unless we make adjustments and change course. It's time to make a decision, but which way to turn - the direction to freedom or responsibility, acceptance or resistance, involvement or independence. The answers are not always clear.
