Listen to journalist Kenneth R. Weiss, Irish actor Gabriel Byrne, and rock critic Ken Tucker on this edition of Fresh Air.
Kenneth Weiss writes for the L.A. Times and has covered the California coast and the oceans for the past five years. He's written (with co-author Usha Lee McFarling) a new five-part series, Altered Oceans, on the long-term health of the seas. The series received the George Polk Award for journalism.
Then, Gabriel Byrne, whose new film is Jindabyne. He's best known for his roles in the films The Usual Suspects, Miller's Crossing, and Into the West. He was also the executive producer of the film In the Name of the Father and associate producer of Into the West. He began his acting career in his late 20s. Before that, he was an archeologist, schoolteacher, and short-order cook.
Finally, Ken Tucker reviews Traffic and Weather, the new album by the band Fountains of Wayne. It's their first song collection in four years. [Broadcast Date: April 12, 2007]
