あらすじ・解説
No flash, no sizzle.
Few decisions we make are more important than the ones about the direction of our career. With good reason, more and more people are questioning whether the employee model is right for them. Most have recognized that job security is based on what they are now contributing, and past contributions matter little. They look around and see others who made the leap to become an independent consultant (or freelancer), making far more money, doing more exciting work, and just having more fun.
Why can’t you do the same? The short answer is that life as an independent consultant is not for everyone.
Based on the author’s extensive experience, this book attempts to help the listener understand what life as an independent consultant is all about. In addition to drawing on the broad body of knowledge in the industry, it uses real-life examples to provides a no-nonsense perspective on many key issues.
It will help you answer questions related to:
- How life as an independent consultant will fit your personal needs and whether you should make the leap
- How you might plan and operate your business as an independent consultant
- What tools and frameworks might be helpful and how you might use them
- What you might monetize from your practice, should you decide to terminate the business
After a long career as a practitioner and business owner in the consulting industry, the author wanted to share his learnings with others. Following his retirement in May of 2018, he wrote this book as his first retirement project with the objectives of helping new entrants succeed and improving the quality of service for their clients.
