このコンテンツについて
The UFO subject as we know it came to the public’s attention on June 24, 1947, when private pilot Kenneth Arnold, flying over the Cascade Mountains in the USA, witnessed a formation of objects that he could not identify. Speaking later to a journalist regarding the encounter, Arnold was asked how this formation of objects moved through the air, and his response was: “Like skipping a saucer across a pond.” From that moment on, the coined phrase "Flying Saucer" was born.
Since that time, the UFO subject has been studied by a variety of military agencies, scientists, and of course, civilian-run organisations. As a result, there are thousands of UFO books and magazines available, plus countless news items and documentaries on television, social media, and of course online. Very few of these cater for a younger audience, so that is where our book Introducing UFOs: A Young Person’s Guide steps in. I think the title says it all.
In this book, we look at selected case histories from the 1940s onwards. These documentations are not meant to be in-depth, but rather to illustrate the case in as brief a way as possible, without missing any salient points. The case histories chosen for this book come from around the world and are accompanied by illustrations, documents, photographs, and maps. Each chapter is split into decades and comes complete with its own piece of unique artwork. The book also provides an overview on what to do if you encounter a UFO and discusses, in brief, some of the many theories put forward to try and explain the phenomenon. This book is designed with a young adolescent audience in mind and comes complete with a photo section, with a series of authentic UFO photographs from around the world.
