あらすじ・解説
You see women with different hair such as wigs, weaves, extensions, and braids. Have you ever asked why they frequently change their hair?
In this audiobook, you’ll find that women’s hair has been a defining part of who they are. It is their crowning glory and can help them feel better about themselves even if the whole world is falling apart around them. It's their life. Hair can change women’s look and life so much. I learned through this journey that there are a variety of reasons why women change hair. It has something to do with where they grew up, what school they attended, who their parents were, beauty, and fashion. Moreover, it has a lot to do with the time it takes to do their natural hair, the healthiness of their hair is at stake, men are to blame, discrimination, job security, health, and many more.
I've been around the women’s hair market for over 10 years. In fact, my wife, Sonia, has owned Sonia Hair Braiding and Beauty Shop since 2008. Sonia does all kinds of hair. Her customers range from five-year old to folks over 65 and include women and men from a variety of ethnicities and, therefore, a variety of hair types. This exposure on hair pushed me to conduct a study on women’s hair.
"This study on hair styles, more specifically, why women decide to wear wigs, extensions, and weaves, proves that hair is impacted by culture, health, the work place, demographics, social media, and the fast-paced world we are living in. I found the study very fascinating, revealing another layer of the pressures placed upon women to look a certain way in order to be accepted into a specific culture, society, or even by men. An excellent read." (C. J. Anaya, USA Today best seller)
