Joining us at Audible Studios is Kerry Daynes, an English forensic psychologist and consultant who has worked as an expert witness and within the family law courts as well as opening her own private practices. Daynes has released her new book, The Dark Side of the Mind: True Stories from My Life as a Forensic Psychologist.
Kerry Dayes has worked in maximum security prisons and secure hospitals, working alongside some of the most complex and challenging criminals and victims of crime. Her days can be spent delving into the psyche of convicted men and women to understand what lies behind their actions, and how to instead set them on a route towards becoming a law-abiding citizen.
We spoke about Daynes' day-to-day work, and how it ranges from the heartbreaking to the fascinating, her career so far, her passion for psychology and her new book.
