As grown-ups, we tend to have several people depending on us. Our teams need us to be on our A game each day, and folks in our personal life need our time and attention. Adulting is exhausting and overwhelming at times. People who have been in overwhelm too long often feel discouraged and resigned that this is “just life.” Overwhelm is believed to be a natural consequence of their profession, the industry they work in or their stage of life.
All of this while feeling outpaced by responsibility, stressed and having little time for other enjoyable parts of our lives. But we I assure you that overwhelm is a dragon you can slay and must slay if we want to grow into our potential and feel fulfilled in our broader life. I still get overwhelmed from time to time. The difference is that today, by using the strategies and techniques I share in this book and being intentional about my mindset, I’m able to get myself back on track relatively quickly. Some of the strategies in this book will be a reminder about coping skills you already know, but I think some may surprise you.
