このコンテンツについて
Travis never thought of problematic language being an issue for him with level one autism. Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at age 22, he had always been verbal. It was not until a BCBA friend pointed out to him that problematic language is a lot more than just being verbal.
Since communication is 93 percent non-verbal and only seven percent verbal, Travis now realizes that he has a lot of problematic language stemming from the inability to generalize and apply social skills in different social contexts, the inability to engage in productive perspective taking, and the inability to have reciprocal conversations with peers.
In this book, Travis talks about how being black and white and not understanding grey thinking concepts leads to problematic language that eventually led to inappropriate sexual behaviors.
If you love or support someone with level one autism, you will want to listen to this book to gain some perspective on what someone with level one autism might find challenging with language.
