このコンテンツについて
In this turbulent world, 'Stop the world I want to get off’ is a poetry collection to comfort and cheer you on as you navigate life’s challenges.
With rhythmic reassurance to help you negotiate life’s disappointments, challenging emotions and uncertain times, these poems address a wide range of human trickiness. Topics covered include body image, dealing with overwhelm, climate change, physical and mental and self development.
Jacky Power, also known as The Therapeutic Poet, brings her experience and wisdom as a qualified psychotherapist, mother and recovering human to this collection of poetry which will salve your soul, offering a sparkle of humour and hope, despite the weightiness of the world.
BOOK REVIEWS
Jacky Power has a big heart and a huge felt sense of the human spirit. Her observation of humanity is sharp and tender at the same time. She can find the hidden truth of an ordinary moment whether she’s sorting socks or laughing at the weird home-made Christmas presents that popped up during lockdown. And underlying everything is a therapist’s knowledge of human nature: she actually understands as well as observes. In the end I am uplifted by these poems and left with a feeling of hope in the human condition. Buy it! You’ll love it too.

Stop The World I Want to Get Off simply emanates warmth, humour and compassion. When I read them, I feel understood, I feel liked–loved even–I feel I am not alone. Jacky has the therapist’s laser-eye, piercing through the bullshit to the heart of the matter, but she also has the tenderness to make a reader feel safe, as if they are in the presence of a dear friend. There is no pretension here–the verse is accessible, light and engaging–but it is anchored by the weight of tremendous, powerful wisdom that is at once ancient and healing.
