Thomas Ward has spent two years as the Spook's apprentice. He's faced unimaginable peril, and survived. Most exciting is Tom's verbal sparring with some very creepy-sounding tricksters. A bit of fun enters an otherwise dark story when the cat who does the cooking purrs as her delicious cooking is complimented by hungry men. Conversations about Tom's family and his mixed reaction to being saved by Alice Dean bring reality to the story. The conclusion assures listeners that the next installment will answer their many questions.
