Jay Thooft a mental performance expert, coach, and teacher with a background in high performance psychology and is the founder of Performance Excellence & Recovery Consulting (PERC) - a consulting firm dedicated to providing developing athletes the tools necessary to elevate their mental game and perform in the face of stress, pressure, and adversity.
PERC rapidly became an industry leader in setting the standard for high performance psychology training for developing athletes in the Greater Denver area. To date, Jay oversees the mental performance training for 16 youth sport organizations and impacts approximately 5000 athletes, parents, and coaches every year. With experience working with athletes and performers at the Olympic, National, College, and High School levels, Jay looks forward to bringing his almost decade of experience in his mission to help you achieve higher levels of performance!
TrainWithPERC is a reflection of Jay's mission to increase the accessibility of high performance psychology training so any athlete has the opportunity to show up and perform their best in the moments that matter most.
In this episode, Archie and Jay discuss Jay’s experience with high performance athletes and how being around individuals that demanded so much of themselves really shaped him. They have a great conversation around how much of success is due to innate gifts and how many of those gifts or skills can be learned. Jay also shares four areas we can train when working on mastery of any craft and why accepting and relinquishing control of a specific outcome can be a huge piece of achieving a desired result.
