04 - Mental Health and Spirituality

  • サマリー

  • [These conversations are based largely on The Endurance Factor Book, co-authored by Greg and Chip]

How do we know when our spiritual and faith practices need to be aided by therapy, medicine, and/or other forms of professional and medical help? In the course of this conversation, host Joey Svendsen and Andi Andrew (part of The Endurance Factor family), share personal seasons of mental suffering and with their stories as context, Pastors Chip Judd and Greg Surratt discuss good mental health practices that the brain needs for healthy living and why one's precious faith in God isn't always enough.

The four talk through the difference between clinical and situational depression, they process together what Philippians 4: 6-7 ("...don't be anxious about anything..") means for those who have a clinical form of anxiety, and they reflect on the church's slower pace in giving mental health an increasing amount of the scientific attention it merits. Pastor Greg also may or may not share a guilty pleasure of his that involves McDonald's.
