In this episode, Andy Lane of BP and Olivia Powis of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association discuss Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage and the Challenge for Engineering Construction.
Andy Lane is VP of CCUS Solutions at BP. He joined BP in 1986 and has worked in a variety of technical and commercial roles in the Exploration and Production, Gas and Power and the Trading parts of the company in the UK North Sea, Alaska and Australia. Since returning to the UK, Andy has been responsible for business development across all bp’s Upstream gas businesses. Andy currently leads bp’s Hydrogen and CCS development work on the UK, with its main focus in Teesside. He also sits on the government’s Green Jobs Delivery Group representing the CCS industry.
Olivia is UK Director at the Carbon Capture and Storage Association (or CCSA), where she works in partnership with the Chief Executive and Board on developing the UK strategy and work programme of the association. Before joining the CCSA, Olivia was a Senior Policy Manager at the National Infrastructure Commission where she led on a number of projects including a review of UK economic regulation and the role of infrastructure in housing. Her background is in energy regulation and she spent 8 years at Ofgem where she led on negotiating price controls for the electricity distribution network and leading a competition for a New Energy Solution for Shetland.
