    Curtis McGrath OAM, an Australian paracanoeist and former soldier. He took up canoeing competitively after both of his legs were amputated as a result of a mine blast while serving with the Australian Army in Afghanistan. In this episode, Curtis recalls the moment the mine detonated, and explains the vital role friends and family play in the lives of people with disability.

    "I often look at my life, would I go back and change what happened to me? Absolutely not. I've had an amazing experiences that have led me to become a four time Paralympic gold medalist and meet amazing people and tell my story."

    Dinesh Palipana OAM is an Australian doctor, lawyer, scientist and disability advocate. He is the second person with quadriplegia to graduate as a doctor in Australia and the first with spinal cord injury. Here Dinesh provides insight into his career, how his accident changed his outlook on life, and if anyone has refused to be treated by him.

    "I didn't want to die scared. I didn't want to die anxious. I didn't want to die fearful. So while the accident was happening, I made a conscious decision to not be scared. And to think of it differently, so I pretended that I was in a rollercoaster." says Dinesh.

    Shane Hryhorec is an entrepreneur and passionate advocate for people with disabilities. In 2007, Shane broke his neck in a swimming pool accident. He chose to see this as an opportunity to improve equality for people with disabilities. In this episode, Shane explains why having physical access to locations is so important, and how his social media videos depicting honest reviews of travelling with a wheelchair made it into the hands of a Disney employee.

    "I started importing beach matting and beach wheelchairs and providing them to people and councils and governments all around Australia. And I've helped work towards making over 100 beaches in Australia accessible for people with disabilities." says Shane.

In our inaugural episode, Carly speaks out about her racial heritage and the burden of proof when it comes to applying for disability services.

    "I'm pretty proud of changing or helping shift the perception of people with skin conditions and facial difference. Particularly in the media, I did You Can't Ask That a few years ago and talked about what it's like to have a facial difference and how hard it can be with the discrimination." says Carly.
