    2024/11/05

On maybe the spookiest day ever: a cold, gray, harsh, bitter election day, under constant fire of the biting Beartooth Front wind, we hunker down and publish the last of our spookisodes.
We had so much fun, we snuck in one more, recorded on Halloween Eve, released on Election Day: the scariest of all episodes.

We start with an SOS where Rose teaches us the origins of Halloween. It's cool. You into mumsing or guising?

Rose takes on a new segue, named Rose Way for now, and dives into hot takes on the halloween costumes of the year.

A GhostEd sement takes a few unexpected turns, becoming one of the craziest trips down memory lane. Chef walks us through his encounters with ghosts (he's way way more into them than you would have thought), right up to his epic battle with the ghost of his father in law. Chef's. . . . well, chef's nuts, frankly.

A WHM Trailer Game inspired Name It has Rose guessing famous halloween movies based on trivia deets. It's a hit, and we'll have to do more.

We maybe stretched to call it a GhostEd, as our second GhostEd segment is really a double header of classic true crime stories. We learn Rose is way, way into true crime. It's a couple crazy stories.

We finish our last Spookisode of '24 with a Halloween ReviewEd. We talk more costumes, we talk candy, and we rank where Halloween falls on our personal holiday lists.

Last Spookisode Tip Out is a classic window into Rose and Chef: shopping and mapping and doing it in style.

Stay safe in the coming days y'all. Fans of the show know we're rooting for a Harris win with the frosting on the cake being a Tester win too. We'll see. Fingers crossed. Much love either way. Feeling terrified but optimistic about the former, and sad and worried about the latter.

  • Spookisode III Dare to Listen
    2024/10/30

Our 13th Episode is also the 3rd Spookisode, and it's downright haunting. Children, the elderly, those prone to fainting, the light hearted, ninnywaggles, and those prone to gasping should probably not attempt to listen.

We ease in, with a Social Studies showing off a homeschool leadership achievement. It's another sneakily helpful homeschool segment.

Then we start to get spooky: a Would You Rather that straight up freaks Chef out.

Now we get downright scary: we try to scare Rose straight with the straight dope on DRUGS. We start with all the legal or readily available ones.

For an SOS segue, we learn why Friday the 13th is a thing in our popular culture. It's a cool story, with a spooky vibe just right for the season.

A micro 86ed has Chef trending and he won't shut up about it.
    Luckily his jokes are OK.

We finish our harrowing DarED episode with the harder drugs. Chef has an astonishignly frank discussion about mushrooms in particular.

Seasonal tip outs round out a crazy ride. We're. . . . we're the ones who do this and we're still not sure what the hell we're doing. It's fun though.

  • Spookisode II Smashing Pumpkin Spice
    2024/10/23

The Second Ever Spookisode starts with a NYC update. Chef almost had a panic attack in Brooklyn, so that's legit scary.

We finish our GhostEd sandwiches from Spookisode I last week, when Chef intro'd Yuba and Rose intro'd Dyatlov. We flip flop and Chef starts with his theory of Dyatlov. Despite the fact that last week he couldn't even pronounce it and kept shouting something about "the women", his take is surprisingly reasoned and well-informed. It's. . . . . it's almost scary.

Quick segue has Rose largely smashing her way through the 90's, and we have to agree.

Last of the sammies as Rose debuts her research and theories on the Yuba Five. She's got some good points. Chef brought evidence too. No effing around. Johnson & Johnson maybe solve the case. Boom.

In a TinklEd Rose switches gears at the last moment and baits Chef into wildly inappropriate jokes.

In another shocking development, we have another seriously helpful ep here with a great homeschool update. We've been dancing around this for a bit, and we're finally debuting our third and maybe most important homeschool themed segment: SchedulEd.
SchedulEd deals with the logistics, the everyday deets that make managing a homeschool from both a teacher and a student perspective so intimidating. We break it down into digestible segments dealing with things like test prep and, of course, scheduling priorities.
In our first SchedulEd, we talk about Senior Photos. We also have a pre-event check in for Rose, who is going to a huge dance event as a student and a choreographer.

For a segue, Chef and Chat GPT team up and uncover another Bermuda Triangle style spooky zone. Its sounds deranged. Might actually be onto something, which is also scary.

As a Chef and a foodie, we're stoked fall is here & talking fall foods and trends in ReviewEd.

In a perfect Generational take on entertainment, Chef's tip out is a TV show, and Rose's tip out is a YouTube show.

See you one more time this October for Spookisode III.

  • 1st Ever Spookisode
    2024/10/15

Both Rose and Chef love the fall season, also an Absarokee and Fishtail favorite. We dive into the season with the first in a month's worth of spooky themed content- our first ever Spookisode.

We start with a check in with Chef before a trip to NYC to film an episode of international TV. He's . . . . stoked. And weird. Usual Chef.

Then we dive into our GhostEd stories. Rose intros Dyatlov Pass: the basics. We hint at our theories. We'll revisit in a couple of weeks and tell each other our specific theories.

We switch gears with an attempt to answer a few classics for film buffs like Rose and Chef:
"Which horror movie is actually, really for reals scary?"
    "Best horror movies?"
    "Worst horror movies?"
Rose is on fire. Chef can really just hang on and agree. Kid's got taste.

With YellowstonEd we look at a couple possible origin stories for Rose's horror prediliction. What did Chef and Smokey do wrong to create a modern day Wednesday?

In maybe the only really scary story of the day, Social Studies takes us back into public school, this time to a Billings Middle School year of our lord 2024, for a legit scary story about things going on in public schools these days.

A quick Joker segment highlights dumb jokes and how they are legit important, no joke.

Chef rounds out the GhostEd part one stories with the Yuba 5. Between Yuba and Dyatlov we got some perfect Montana ghost story material: mountains and mysteries.

The quickest Tip Out ever rounds out a quick, tight, brisk fall walk of an ep.
See you soon for Spookisode 2!

  • 5 6 7 8 DRAMA
    2024/10/01

And 5 and 6 and 7 and 8: cue our biggest ep ever, and our most drama filled!

In a 5 themed SOS, Chef dishes on the 5 "Mother" sauces, and the "5" things we can actually taste.

Rose blows all of our minds by A) Taking charge of a Koan Koan Git segment, and B) Absolutely bringing the fire with a really cool modern Koan. A perfect Koan for Rose's first: super modern, something Chef never would have thought of, and a crazy cool different pathway to get to Koan meditation. Well done. Git it?

In the most fundmental, dramatic, intense ReviewEd ever, Chef and Rose both lay out their top 5 movies of all time. Don't @ us; to quote Podcast Legends WHM: "It's okay to like a movie." We're quite sure you won't agree with our pics, especially Chef's.

We go back for more of the Hawk Tuah girl. Try not to make a joke about going in again. Don't worry, it's just an update. Ugh. 2024.

For our main Oui Oui Chef get surprisingly interested and in and passionate aboute Rose's Oui Oui: the Becky Effect and Lesbian Tik Tock Drama. Ugh. Sedona. Rose takes us through the whole DRAMA, and we issue a couple Certified AfterschoolEd Shipments.

A quick Now Geo segment takes us to NYC, where Chef is going this week. YellowstonEd is an update on the black week in Stillwater County. It's been a brutal two years in County 32 here, and this was maybe the brutalist week of 'em all.

Chef's Tip Out: a chess tip. Rose gets us cool again with a song pic.

  • He Dropped Out She Tuned In
    2024/09/04

Don't look now- we're stringing together serious and seroiusly helpful episodes, I mean, Chef still goes off the rails several times, but we still actually get around to serious homeschooling again.

It starts with a crazy chain of events: Biden drops out, so Rose tuned in (to the DNC). She rates her top five speeches from this year's Democratic National Convention.

We learn about Captain Gilligan and suuuper low level corporate fraud in an 86ed segue segment about poorly handled packages. You gotta handle those packages carefully. . . That's what she said.

Doubling down on ReviewEd, we dive into our favorite olympics moments. Rose talks about women straight killin' it from Simone to cycling to the boxing ring. Chef talks Paris, Argentina v France, Snark v Seine.

In a Tinkle segue we dive into the disgusting cosplay world of MTG with a Chef-curated slideshow of her lowlights, from cosplay hunting and dangerous firearm handling to fake cooking and terrible kitchens.

And we finish out with a Social Studies segment that is a perfect example of why we need a new homeschool segment, becuase this one's not at all about socialization myths. We're diving back into helpful, pragmatic, concrete advice about senior year homeschool milestones.

And in the end, we both completely forget about the Tip Out. We had ones planned, but we got so excited to be done at a reasonable hour for once that we pat ourselves on the back, drop the mics, and just left. Nobody ever said we weren't forgetful. At least not that we can recall.

  • Italians Dance, Americans Test; Couch Banging & Hawk Tuahing
    2024/08/21

Wait a second. . . did we make an actually helpful episode!?! This, and for once we don't say it jokingly, really is a homeschool podcast.

We dive into a recap of Rose's time in Italy, and we talk about the importance of club and sport activities to homeschoolers, and how it could actually be a superpower and not a weakness.
After a trip into the magic of the number 7, we get straight up helpful again: we do a rundown of what to get into your senior year of homeschool for testing, including deets like GED vs HiSet, and PSAT's: take or don't take?

Things get wild with a ride on the couch with JD Vance in a mini Oui Oui.

Then we're mixing ReviewEd and ScratchEd with a recap of some good cancer / grief movies and books. We're talking Eat Pray Love, From Scratch, & Crying in the HMart.

Rose kills Chef in a trash talking segment that Chef probably still doesn't even understand.

And we finish with a lesson that was definitely not worth the wait. For weeks Chef has avoided learning about the Hawk Tuah girl. He finally learns about the little slice of '24 that is the Hawk Tuah girl. He reacts . . . . probably like you're thiniking he would .

Our Tipout has two of our faves, well three of our faves: Bruno (Mars), Lady (Gaga), and Messermeister (Knives).
