    • Shantel Martinez is the Director of First-Generation Programs and Enrichment for the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has a PhD in Communications and Media with an emphasis on Latinx Communication and Gender Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. As a practitioner-scholar, she centers storytelling and narrative practices to examine cycles of intergenerational trauma/survival in both familial and educational spaces. She utilizes this research to inform her approach to build mentorship pipelines, form community, and cultivate narratives of survival.
