  • Welcome to BLOW by Infectious Behaviour! I'm your host Mel.

BLOW brings you real life stories from the salon chair and beyond. You will be introduced to guests from different backgrounds and experiences who have the courage to bring awareness to social issues, altering perceptions and changing stigmas. A community of daring individuals ready to transform lives, connected by stories woven from a collective of tapestries.

My life is a testament to one’s ability of the human strength and spirit to expand and rise to a challenge, battling through domestic & family violence, family drug & alcohol addiction, I barely made it through high school.

Starting my hairdressing apprenticeship at 15 was my saviour. With over 3 decades of listening to stories in the salon chair, I have heard it all as the poor man's unpaid, unqualified hair therapist.

My passion project is to use my skills to give back by doing hundreds of haircuts per year on our most vulnerable communities – people struggling and doing it tough. Sometimes it is not about the haircut it is about the meaningful connections through conversations, feeling seen and heard. I encourage my listeners to give back.

These stories are not just about survival; they’re about transforming pain into power and inspiring others to do the same.

  • Breaking the Stigma of Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorder
    2024/10/07

This is one of those conversations that make you realise there are still disabilities out there that do not have enough education or funding to provide the necessary understanding and support.

Bianca provides a confronting account of what it is like to live with tourette syndrome and tic disorder.

Some of you may remember hearing Bianca and her family’s story on 60 Minutes, when she was 16 and living with the worst case of this disorder in Australia at the time.

Bianca’s positivity and willingness to share her life on her social pages is bringing greater awareness and support. By doing so she has created a community that embraces and accepts people with all different kinds of disabilities.

Her work has also seen her transition to become a motivational speaker in this space.

    What an inspiring human…

  • Overcoming a 25yr Meth Addiction and Finding Purpose - Nourish Street Inc
    2024/10/07

Beau Haywood founder of Nourish Street Inc. operating on Brisbane’s Northside, supporting those living rough with his family and his best mate, Mack the dog.

Beau shows us that change is possible, overcoming a 25yr meth addiction, breaking the cycle. This experience gave him his “why” to start Nourish Street providing home cooked meals to those living rough and so much more to the Northside community.

Beau connects with the people he meets, listens to their stories and backgrounds, supporting their efforts to connect with different services that can help them also break the cycle.

In the process he is raising awareness about the gravity of what is happening on our streets and those without homes.

Nourish Street solely relies on donations for them to provide their volunteer community services.

You must follow their socials to see the impact that they have…
