あらすじ・解説
Welcome to episode 9 of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake. After the 8th entry Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan was negatively recieved by fans/critics and underperformed at the box office, Paramont Pictures decided it was time hang up the Friday The 13th series for good. Luckily, New Line Cinema stepped in and was able to negotiate get rights to the series so they could make more follow-ups (however, Paramont would keep the rights to the F13 title). With the help of the original film's director Sean S. Cunningham as producer, the studio released the 9th instalment in 1993 with Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, which was the directorial debut of 23 year old filmmaker Adam Marcus (Conspiracy, Secret Santa). Joining your hosts to discuss this completely gonzo but very polarising 9th entry are first-time guests Sam Inglis (film critic & co-host of the podcast Fearless Pretender: The Jennifer Jason Leigh Podcast) and David Lorensene (co-organizer of The Melbourne Horror Society). Highlights in this episode include Sam & David discussing the first Friday The 13th film that they both saw, does the plot to Jason Goes To Hell make any sense?, appreciating the film going into a different direction for the series, praising Steven Williams' performance, how the film subverts audience expectations, the surprising amount of homoeroticism and so much more.
