Welcome to the first episode of Beth’s Bookshelf, my brand new podcast for all things writing and literature. I’ve wanted to start this podcast for several months now and I’ve finally gathered together some brilliant writers to interview and share with you all. I’ve pretty much used this podcast as an excuse to contact writers that I admire so I can fangirl over them during interviews! Here you will find an archive of conversations with wonderfully creative people, discussing their backgrounds, journeys, and relationships with literature. Grab some earphones, a cup of tea and enjoy these interviews about creative processes, friendship, feminism, fandom, books, and more with writers from my bookshelf! Let me know your thoughts through twitter@bethmayashley & follow for updates! I really hope you enjoy! Today’s guest is Danika stone, the author of All the Feels.
The book was nominated for the 2016 Children’s and YA Bloggers’ Literary Awards and YALSA’s Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers. Danika was also Fierce Reads ‘Featured Author’ for June 2016. Today, she’s on the podcast with me to talk about fandoms, her writing process, and how we discover and commit to new ideas. All the Feels surrounds Liv, a college freshman and our main character who is obsessed with a set of movies called Starveil. When her favourite character Captian Matt Spartan is killed off, Liv’s life is turned upside down. The story shows us how Liv copes with her heartbreak through online communities and her best friend Xander, all while trying to balance her hectic personal life and accidental online success.
You can follow Danika Stone on Twitter here, and order All the Feels here.
If you’re a lover of YA fiction and have some experience with fandom (as most of us do) I promise this will be a wonderful read!
