More offseason moves in the NBA are still brewing and the WNBA is approaching its midway point of the season. On this episode, Coach James Young goes through all of that and more, especially since some of the NBA rookies of the 2025 draft class will be taking part in this year's Summer League.
First up on our Tip-Off Topics, we review the three-team trade that involved Norman Powell being sent to the Heat, John Collins heads to the Clippers, and Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, and a future second round pick go to the Jazz. One can wonder how this either defies or benefits each team going forward. DeAndre Ayton signs a two-year deal with the Lakers. Can he help LeBron, Doncic, and company to contend for a title next season? Speaking of the Lakers, Bronny James showed what he could in his 11 minutes of action in his first Summer League game of 2025. Should he get more playing time going forward? In addition, the Denver Nuggets are trying to keep Jonas Valanciunas after acquiring him in a trade. Mentioning trades, Cam Whitmore gets traded to the Wizards. Also, we break down the first game performances in the Summer League from 76ers' VJ Edgecombe and Jazz's Ace Bailey.
On our Award Tour, we take a look ahead as some player props for Cooper Flagg and Bronny James to find some value in the betting market based on their individual performances in this year's Summer League. Also, we head to the WNBA and wonder if the new franchise in the Golden State Valkyries can make the 2025 Playoffs.
Lastly on Coaching's Scouting Report, we preview two games on the docket for Tuesday in the WNBA. Coach gives a play for both matchups that can be a good hit. In addition, Coach provides a Buzzer Beater as the WNBA announced the full roster for the 2025 All Star Team. Paige Bueckers, Kiki Iriafen, and Sonia Citron become the first trio to make an All Star selection in their rookie years since 2011.
