  • 195: 7/8: Powell & Collins Involved in Trade + Valkyries to Make The Playoffs? & More

    More offseason moves in the NBA are still brewing and the WNBA is approaching its midway point of the season. On this episode, Coach James Young goes through all of that and more, especially since some of the NBA rookies of the 2025 draft class will be taking part in this year's Summer League.


    First up on our Tip-Off Topics, we review the three-team trade that involved Norman Powell being sent to the Heat, John Collins heads to the Clippers, and Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, and a future second round pick go to the Jazz. One can wonder how this either defies or benefits each team going forward. DeAndre Ayton signs a two-year deal with the Lakers. Can he help LeBron, Doncic, and company to contend for a title next season? Speaking of the Lakers, Bronny James showed what he could in his 11 minutes of action in his first Summer League game of 2025. Should he get more playing time going forward? In addition, the Denver Nuggets are trying to keep Jonas Valanciunas after acquiring him in a trade. Mentioning trades, Cam Whitmore gets traded to the Wizards. Also, we break down the first game performances in the Summer League from 76ers' VJ Edgecombe and Jazz's Ace Bailey.


    On our Award Tour, we take a look ahead as some player props for Cooper Flagg and Bronny James to find some value in the betting market based on their individual performances in this year's Summer League. Also, we head to the WNBA and wonder if the new franchise in the Golden State Valkyries can make the 2025 Playoffs.

  • 194: 7/3: Myles Turner to the Bucks + Knicks Hire Mike Brown as Next HC & More

    On this episode with Coach James Young, we bring you an NBA free agency special, giving you two segments worth of the notable moves and signings that teams have made so far to kick off the offseason. In addition, we got some WNBA action to preview.

    On our elongated Tip Off Topics, we reviewed some of the movements in the NBA free agency. There have been players going left and right to different teams and some that resigned contract extensions. Some of the notable occurrences that took place are the Knicks hiring Mike Brown as their next head coach. Myles Turner signs a massive deal with the Bucks, meanwhile Milwaukee, in the process, waives Damian Lillard to and stretch out the remainder of his contract. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander resigns with the OKC Thunder after winning this season's NBA Title. The Nuggets acquired Cam Johnson from the Nets in a trade with Michael Porter Jr.. Jaren Jackson Jr. signed a huge extension with the Grizzlies but injures his foot, which would require surgery. There are many moves to uncover and free agency is going to keep being hectic if it continues like this.

    Lastly in the third segment with Coach's Scouting Report, we preview five games in the WNBA tipping off on Thursday. Coach will give you a best bet for each matchup to look out for.

  • 193: 7/1: Randle & Reid Get the Bag & Updated WNBA Win Totals

    There’s been a ton of free agency and offseason moves, buyouts, and extensions made around the NBA not to mention there have been major changes in the WNBA regarding this season and for the future. All will be unveiled with Coach James Young on this episode.


    On our Tip Off Topics, there have been some contract extensions, trades, and buyouts that have happening to start free agency:
    LeBron James opting in to his contract for next season, James Harden declining his player option and sign a two-year deal to remain with the Clippers, Jabari Smith, Naz Reid, and Julius Randle sign massive contract extensions with their respective teams, Lonzo Ball gets traded to Cleveland, Collin Sexton gets traded to Charlotte while Jordan Clarkson gets bought out and much more. Coach wonders if any of these were the right moves to approach the 2025-26 season.


    On our Award Tour, we take an early look at some of the popular props the betting market offers for the Mavericks #1 overall pick Cooper Flagg. Does he have the ability to record any of the four props listed that are listed so far? In the WNBA, we update every teams' win totals. Much has changed since the start of the season, especially for the new franchise in the Golden State Valkyries, who have exceeded expectations so far before the All Star break.


    Lastly on Coach's Scouting Report, we preview Tuesday's battle between the Fever and the Lynx for the Commissioner's Cup Final. It's going to be a real competition to see who comes out on top. In addition, Coach's gives out two Buzzer Beaters, one related to the record-breaker that Cailtin Clark set last season has done it again this season as she sets the record for most All Star votes passing over one million. The other is the WNBA announcing three more expansion teams leading all the way up to 2030. It's going to be an exciting time for the WNBA for years to come very quickly.

  • 192: 6/27: NBA Draft Recap: Flagg Wins ROY? + Holiday & Porzingis Get Traded

    The first round of the 2025 NBA Draft has concluded as well as some major trades that occurred now that the 2024-25 season is officially over. Also, some notable players were able to agree contract extensions with their respective teams. In addition, there are some games happening in the WNBA on Friday. All of these will be discussed on this episode with Coach James Young.


    On our Tip-Off Topics, we review the trades that happened this week: Kristaps Porzingis traded to the Hawks, Jrue Holiday to the Blazers, CJ McCollum to the Wizards, and, what took place on draft night, Mark Williams to the Suns. In addition, Kyrie Irving, Fred VanVleet, and Daniel Gafford resigned with their respective teams on contract extensions. There’s been a lot of moving parts to start the offseason and it’s only going to continue as the summer progresses.


    On our Award Tour, we recap the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Coach gives his winners and losers of the draft. In addition, we take a look at the Rookie of the Year odds to see how all the first-rounders stack up in the betting market.

  • 191: 6/24: OKC Wins First Ever NBA Title + Kevin Durant Trade to Rockets & More

    The Oklahoma City Thunder win their first ever NBA Championship in franchise history as the NBA Finals concluded on Sunday. There was also some major breaking news regarding Game 7 and in the offseason for the rest of the teams in league as well as some WNBA action along with the coverage of the NBA Draft on Wednesday. All will be uncovered with Coach James Young on this episode.

    On Our Tip Off Topics, we recap the OKC Thunder capturing their first NBA Championship as they took down the Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was awarded Finals MVP as well; however, Tyrese Haliburton sustained a torn Achilles near the end of the first quarter. In addition, a major blockbuster trade unfold over the weekend as Kevin Durant got traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and future draft picks. How does this impact both teams going forward? In the WNBA, sad news for the Liberty as Jonquel Jones goes down with an ankle injury that will sideline her for 4-6 weeks. Also, Paige Bueckers becomes that fastest player in WNBA history to record 200+ points and 50+ assists.

  • 190: 6/19: Tyrese Haliburton Injured Prior to Game 6 + Scuffles in Fever vs Sun Game

    A lot of action in the NBA and WNBA to uncover. Coach James Young will take you through the continuation of the NBA Finals and the rest of the WNBA Season.


    On our Tip Off Topics, we recap Game 5 of the NBA Finals as the Thunder take a commanding 3-2 series lead over the Pacers. In addition, Tyrese Haliburton had suffered a strain in his right hamstring, which could be the difference maker with the Pacers chances to capture the title. In the WNBA, there were two scuffles that took place during Wednesday’s Fever/Sun game. Should there have been better officiating throughout the game?     Some breaking news dropped in the NBA as well as a lot of updates in the WNBA, which Coach James Young will uncovered on this episode.


    Our Tip Off Topics include the blockbuster trade in the NBA as the Grizzlies send Desmond Bane to the Magic in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, and future picks. Does this trade help or hinder both teams?
    In addition, the Rockets bring back big man Steven Adams on a three-year $39 million extension. He made an impact down the stretch and into the playoffs so let’s see how he can help Houston make a playoff push next season. In the WNBA, Caitlin Clark put on a show on Saturday in her first game back from injury against the Liberty to hand New York their first loss of the season. Also, the Aces place their star A’ja Wilson in concussion protocol after suffering a head injury this past week. Furthermore, as the Sky won on Sunday, Angel Reese recorded her first career triple-double and the impact of Hailey Van Lith needs to be addressed as well.

    The Indiana Pacers defended home court to take a 2-1 series lead in the NBA Finals, there are some WNBA games to recap and preview, along with some updated futures markets in the NBA and WNBA. All of that and more will be discussed with Coach James Young on this episode.

    On our Tip Off Topics, we recap Game 3 of the NBA Finals as Indiana takes down OKC. How will the rest of the series go? Will OKC find a way to even back up the series or will the Pacers find as way to make it closer to reach the promise land?
