Bible - Torah - Parasha Mattot, Book BaMidbar / Numbers chapter 32 Why splitting the tribe Menashe? A comment by Ari Lipinski explaining the wonderful pearls of the Torah by Rabbi Mordechai Cohen published in Safed in 1690. Based also on the elaboration by Rabbi Menashe Wiener from the Ma'alot Yeshiva, Ari presents the questions and answers of:
1. Why did Moses give the tribe of Menashe land on the east side of the Jordan river, even though they had not asked for it? Only Gad and Reuben came to Moses and elazar the priest asking for land on the east side of the Jordan.
2. Why did Moses choose the tribe of Menashe and not another tribe to be added to those getting land east of the Jordan?
3. Why did Moses split Menashe into two halves, so that one half of the tribe be on each side of the Jordan river?
Ari Lipinski recently published his book about Hebrew Pearls of the Torah book of Genesis explained in German in which Ari provides insights into the special Abarbanel commentaries. It is the first time that Abarbanel`s commentaries are published in the German language. Ari's Genesis commentary book is vailable on Amazon.
