  • #28 3 Body Problem (2024) Netflix Series Review
    2024/10/29

One of Netflix's most talked-about sci-fi series, The 3-Body Problem, is based on Liu Cixin's famous novel. It explores humanity's first contact with an alien civilisation. Think of it as a mix of Arrival and Interstellar, but with a complex story that dives into our place in the universe. When strange signals from space trigger a global crisis, a group of scientists learns they are coming from the chaotic Three-Body system. They realise that the fate of both humans and aliens might be closely connected, leading to a deep exploration of survival. The main conflict is whether humanity should get ready for an alien invasion or try to connect peacefully with the aliens. As fear and betrayal rise, different groups on Earth argue about taking aggressive actions versus being diplomatic, uncovering secrets that could change everything for humanity. For fans of sci-fi with rich political themes, The 3-Body Problem really stands out. It’s similar to shows like The Expanse or Westworld, tackling difficult questions about human nature and how civilisations interact. Netflix’s adaptation promises impressive visuals and stays true to the novel’s depth. Should season 1 of The 3 Body Problem be on your must-watch list? • #27 Wolfs (2024) Apple TV Review
    2024/10/17

Wolfs is about to drop on Apple TV, and with stars like George Clooney and Brad Pitt, it’s already creating a lot of excitement. This movie dives into the world of organised crime, where alliances and betrayals are the name of the game. Think of it as a blend of The Departed and Ocean's Eleven, but with a darker twist. Clooney and Pitt are back together, but this time, they're playing a much deadlier game. The movie kicks off with Clooney and Pitt’s characters being drawn into a high-stakes underworld as seasoned criminals with a complicated history. They team up for one last score, but as they get deeper, they realise they're not the only predators out there. With shifting loyalties and hidden agendas, it’s a fight to survive in a world where trust is the most dangerous currency. The core conflict centre around Clooney and Pitt’s tense partnership, as old grudges and fresh dangers surface. They’re surrounded by rivals and allies who could turn on them at any moment, creating a constant state of suspense. The two characters are forced to navigate these treacherous waters, trying to figure out who they can really trust. It’s a thrilling dive into themes of loyalty, survival, and betrayal. If you’re into intense crime thrillers that delve into the gritty side of partnerships, Wolfs should be right up your alley. It’s got that classic Clooney-Pitt charisma but with a darker, edgier tone. Fans of movies like Heat or The Town will appreciate this one, as it offers a thrilling look into the criminal underworld with two Hollywood legends leading the charge. Is Wolfs going to be the next great crime thriller? I’d love to hear your thoughts once it’s out! Thanks for joining me for my reaction, and stay tuned for more updates on Wolfs and other Apple TV releases!

  • #25 His Three Daughters (2024) Netflix Movie Review
    2024/10/11

Family drama at its most raw and emotional takes center stage in Netflix’s His Three Daughters. This film follows three sisters, who are very different from one another, as they reunite to care for their dying father, stirring up unresolved tensions, past grievances, and hidden truths in the process. The movie brings the sisters, played by Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne, back into each other’s lives after years of estrangement. As they gather in their childhood home to tend to their father in his final days, they’re forced to confront old wounds, simmering conflicts, and the realities of their complex relationships. The film explores themes of family, forgiveness, and the bittersweet nature of grief as they juggle caregiving with their personal issues. The main conflict revolves around the sisters’ strained relationships with each other and their father, who has been distant and emotionally unavailable throughout their lives. As they struggle to care for him, their old arguments resurface, creating emotional barriers. Each sister has her own way of dealing with their father’s illness, and that clash in coping mechanisms becomes a major source of tension. His Three Daughters stands out as a deeply personal and intimate story. • #24 KAOS (2024) Netflix Series Review
    2024/10/08

Kaos takes us into a world where ancient Greek gods and mythological figures are reimagined in a darkly comedic, modern setting. Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus, the king of the gods, but with a twist—he’s not exactly the all-powerful ruler we know. The show blends mythology with modern-day issues, making for a wild, unpredictable ride through the lives of gods and mortals alike. We follow several characters, both mortal and immortal, whose fates are intertwined in a chaotic world where the gods aren't as perfect as they seem. Zeus, played by Goldblum, is dealing with an existential crisis, while mortals and demigods alike struggle to navigate their own dramas. As these stories come together, it becomes clear that the ancient order of things might be crumbling. The main conflict revolves around the gods’ attempts to maintain control over both their immortal realm and the mortal world, while humans begin to challenge the status quo. Zeus is paranoid about losing his power, and the other gods have their own agendas. Meanwhile, the mortals, caught in the middle, start to question the authority of the gods. This power struggle leads to comedic, dramatic, and sometimes absurd situations. Kaos feels like a blend of Good Omens with a bit of American Gods, but with a more satirical edge. It’s a fresh, modern take on mythology, combining the epicness of ancient stories with the humor and cynicism of contemporary life. If you're a fan of witty dialogue, complex characters, and mythology, Kaos delivers. Wondering if Kaos on Netflix is the next must-watch? Thanks for checking out my review—let's break down whether this mythological adventure is worth your time!

  • #23 The Rings of Power - Season 1 (2024) Prime Video Review
    2024/09/26

Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, The Rings of Power series takes us back thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings. It’s a time of relative peace, but ominous forces are beginning to stir, threatening to plunge the world into darkness. The story follows a diverse set of characters—Elves, Dwarves, and Men—each dealing with their own struggles and destinies. We watch as alliances form and old grudges are revisited, all while an ancient evil begins to resurface. The rise of Sauron looms in the background, and the creation of the Rings of Power is on the horizon. The main conflict revolves around the growing threat of darkness. The characters must navigate political intrigue, personal rivalries, and the lure of power. Galadriel, in particular, is on a relentless quest to root out evil, while others are more concerned with maintaining the fragile peace. This tension between vigilance and complacency drives much of the drama and action. If you're a fan of Tolkien's world, this series aims to expand on the rich lore of Middle-earth, adding layers to the familiar tales. It’s an ambitious project, blending familiar elements with new characters and stories. The series offers a visual spectacle and dives into the early days of some of the most iconic figures in fantasy. Should Season 1 of The Rings of Power be on your must-watch list?
