Hey guys, welcome back to BFP season 2 and here we are with episode 2!

On this episode, we collab cultures, Desis & Latinos/Hispanics. This duo has a lot in common, from our frijoles and daal, to our kheer and arroz con leche, large celebrations with large families, loud senses of humor and love of music, dance and telenovela drama. Our collabs go hard too...who doesn't love of chicken tikka taco?

Clearly I have had this idea for a while...it started when I lived in Texas for a few years. During my time there, I realized that so many Desis lived there not only because of the love of heat, but also the family and cultural values of the large Hispanic and Latino*** communities influencing the environment of the cities there. I also saw that expectations within the family were similarly heavy and there were religious influences and patriarchal customs that made our upbringings conservative and restrictive when it came to trying to be authentically ourselves.

In my time in Minnesota, I came across Steph who became one of my close masc friends. She wanted to be on this show because she felt that she never saw anyone that she could look up to during her character developing years that represented what her story looked like and she wanted to shed some limelight on hers in honor of supporting what she didn't have growing up.

I hope you enjoy this special and spicy episode!!

Thank you as always to @Kwey_ for podcast production, audio editing and recording!

***In case anyone was wondering the difference between Latino/Hispanic is that Latinos is based on Latin culture and Hispanic means Spanish-speaking. For example, my friend Steph on this episode is Guatemalan and is Hispanic and not Latino and my Brazilian friend is Latino but speaks Portuguese and is not Hispanic.

Hey guys, welcome back to a brand new season of Bitch from Pakistan! Thank you for staying tuned, and for continuing this journey with me, I'm excited to share what I've got in store!

For the very first episode of the new season, I wanted to bring in someone who was a little older, wiser and who had seen and experienced the world . For a lot of us black sheep, we are the blind leading the blind haha, and I thought it would be really cool to hear from someone who had lived through it, and was on the other side of the struggle. Her being my family, made this even more special. She has always reminded me that our life can be beautiful, because we choose to make it that way. Not despite the fact that we all had to go through so much to get there but more so that we took our circumstances by the balls, and were resilient in chasing our happiness and did not take no for an answer from the universe. Look at all this hope and optimism in this new season beginning! I present to you...Meherunisa Stevie!

Hey guys, welcome back to Bitch From Pakistan!

On this episode, we welcome Kales, an Iranian-American girly who shared a passion in collaborating to talk about what has been going on in Iran and what it means to be a descendant living in the West. We have all seen or heard of what has been going on, but there is always more to the story and it's an important one to know.

Heads up, we recorded this a few weeks back, and want to acknowledge that plenty has happened since then. A few of those things: several more people are being killed, several people are completing suicide due to the conditions, people who have been protesting are at risk of being under arrest, women are in danger of being raped and social media is being controlled to allow lack of clarity of the situation internationally. Most importantly, Iranians feel that what is happening in their country is revolutionary against the Islamic Regime, and more and more people continue to stand up everyday.

In the age of so much information, it is important to clarify facts. I am addressing two: 1) 15,000 protestors are being imprisoned or receiving a death penalty and 2) virgin women are being raped prior to being executed. Nur Ibrahim, Snopes reporter did the fact checking and found that '"The claim that the 15,000 protestors currently imprisoned will be executed en masse is based on unfounded speculation. The claim that female prisoners will be raped before execution relies solely on reports and accounts from the 1980s about systemic sexual abuse of women in Iran's prisons." This does not undermine that people are being hurt, imprisoned and sexually harassed as those are all still very likely outcomes for the people in Iran.

Ignorance is bliss, but not in this case. Thank you so so much for listening and for having a desire to be more aware and educated. Stay connected <3

So much love to you for giving me your trust, time and support thus far.  BFP will be taking a break after this episode, but if you want me, I'll be back! <3

Yasmeena reached out to me on Tiktok one day after we started seeing each other on there. The brown rebel community is pretty small 😅

Hey guys, welcome back to BFP!

Today's episode is special because its my first ever Pakistani speaker, Burhan! Burhan is a genre-defying human who is always pushing the boundaries, in science, social situations, fashion and mindsets. Twinning, we came to America at 18 to pursue our own respective journeys and ended up entering each others creative spheres. We are trying to create the representation we wish we had, and showing what humans of Pakistan across the world look like and are up against.

Their bravery to be themselves caught my attention on social media and inspired me to start living more authentically to myself and step into the courage I knew I had. I can't imagine what their influence will do for other younger people who are in our positions of going against the status quo, and being black sheep in their families. Thank you Burhan for being a part of the BFP family!

Stories and experiences are what bring together community, have a listen!

  • Women's Day x Pakistan's Independence Day
    2022/08/16

    Hey guys!

Welcome back to Bitch From Pakistan!

So Pakistans 75th Independence Day was this past Sunday, on August 14th and it’s basically been celebrated since the Partition which is when India separated into the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of India due to differing religious beliefs. The tensions between us and Indians still stands but that’s a topic for another day!

Pakistan is such a beautiful country in terms of hospitality, food, culture, clothes that it’s hard to believe we love a country that hates its women so much! I wanted to shed some light on what independence for Pakistani women looked like and I feel like several other women from different countries could probably relate.

On the podcast instagram, there is a picture that shows my ID which has to have a 'father's name' on it. There's also a statistic that shows that Pakistan is the 4th most dangerous place for a woman...the domestic violence, femicide and honor killing risk is still quite astonishing. On Women's day, Pakistanis partake in the 'Aurat March' which means 'Women's march' in Urdu. I hope we keep making strides towards a better Pakistan for women.

Thank you for taking out the time to listen and support!!

  • When a Pakistani and Somali join a sorority...
    2022/08/08

Navigating your life as a first generation brown/black Muslim girl has its fair share of challenges...which is probably why B and I have always bonded over our struggles over the years. We were the only Eastern girls in our sorority class and we were trying to figure out the western way of young womanhood...so we ended up staying connected!

Her perspective, as a model in New York, as a first generation Somali woman, and based on the story she lets me share... not only is so unique, but also lays down a foundation to talk about some crazy things that are going on in the US, back in Somalia, back in Pakistan as well as some of the Eastern ideologies that affect our perception of ourselves, especially in our dating lives... which I knowwww a lot of you girls can relate with us on too.

    Stay tuned! Stay connected <3

  • Bitch from Pakistan, what up?
    2022/05/23

    Hey guys!

Finalllllyyyy! Welcome to the beginning of Bitch From Pakistan!

Here's a lil intro into what made me start this project and what I hope it turns into! I'd like to think of it as something of a cultural comedy that gives space for us to be ourselves, and helps us feel a little more connected to each other and who we are.

I originally released this on my birthday because I'm a sentimental gal that decided to finally give birth to this project on that day but cold feet had me in a bind with this project if i'm being honest. Being from where I'm from and being in the career I'm in, it can be really scary taking a chance on yourself, especially with something like this.

I hope you like what I'm bringing to the table and I hope you stick around!! Happy listening <3
