Ep 50---
Welcome back to Voices of Boyle, where we explore the rich history and personal stories that make our town so special. Today, we’re thrilled to chat with Brendan McGee, a self-employed trader and life-long resident of Boyle.
In this episode, Brendan dives into the roots of the Boyle Arts Festival, discussing its impact on the community and the continuous hard work required to keep it thriving. He also touches on the town’s history, including the decline in trade and some of the challenges faced by local businesses.
Brendan shares vivid memories of growing up in Boyle, painting a picture of the town’s lively social scenes, from discos to the buzz around Cleo's and Parker's nightclubs. It's hard to believe that we had two dedicated nightclubs in Boyle at one stage!
He reminisces about the first colour TV, school trips, and the music that shaped his youth. So grab yourself a hot cuppa and allow Brendan to take you back in time as we celebrate the nostalgia, music, and community spirit that defines our lovely town of Boyle.
