  • T&D Big Cats of the World, a jungle in Pennsylvania!
    2022/08/15

T&D Big Cats of the World is nestled in central Pennsylvania in a little town called, Penn's Creek. There are over 300 animal "guests" living there from lions and tigers and bears, (oh my!), to birds, monkeys and foxes.  All of the animals have been donated or rescued and now live comfortably in scenic enclosures. Jennifer Mattive is one of the managers of the park and a graduate of Penn State in, Wildlife and Fisheries Science.  There isn't any of the drama you might have seen in the CATV show, "Tiger King", to be sure, but it is an exciting park to tour.  T&D has a big mission to satisfy every day feeding the animals and maintaining the infrastructure of the park.  Farmers pitch in by donating sick of dead animals for feeding the big carnivores, and the park is staffed by a number of volunteers.

Visit with Cans, Copy and Mic as we travel through this wildlife habitat and take in the sights!

  • I study Brains!
    2022/06/29

Kristine Dell is a graduate student at Penn State University and she's deeply involved in a study measuring the affects of traumatic brain injuries.  The research has been going on for some time and like any such endeavor, the researchers need volunteers that they can study.  I volunteered for the assignment, the first time I'd ever volunteered for anything like it.

I was interviewed, tested, and evaluated by Kristine, testing that included an extensive MRI. I encourage others to volunteer for similar studies, ones that run the gamut from food tasting, sleep and decision making, to ones like I took part in that in the end, should really help people with brain injuries!

  • I Recycle your Junk!
    2022/06/29

Amy Schirf mucks through garbage everyday...actually she manages people that do.  Amy is the Education Coordinator for Centre Recycling and Waste Management. Listen in as she tells me how recycling is managed in Central PA, and most importantly,  just what can be recycled. Many don't realize that they're throwing away things that can actually be recycled locally.

Recycling at the dump is loud, it's colorful and it's high energy as the plastics, glasses, cardboards and papers are tossed into binders and pop out in bundles that are loaded onto massive trucks for the haul away.

  • Cans on the Street- Interviews with fishermen on opening day
    2022/04/06

I'm starting a new segment on my podcast, Cans, Copy & Mic.  It's called, "Cans on the Street", a take off of the broadcasters " Man" on the Street interviews.

I'll be visiting exciting and maybe bizarre venues and events, walking through the crowds and grabbing short interviews of the people there. People say the darnedest things, and that's what I'm looking for.

Did you know that some people spearfish in Pennsylvania? Some stick their hands down holes in the Susquehanna River so that massive catfish will gobble up their arms? It happens! You'll hear all about it in Episode 9!

  • Penn State's Professor of Aliens and UFOs!
    2022/03/28
Actually, Greg Egihigian is a well respected History Professor at Penn State,  but he also teaches a class on UFOs and Aliens!  He gets a great deal of respect from his peers, along with generous funding for his research from the likes of NASA and the Smithsonian.

Greg is an enthusiastic speaker in the classroom, which make him popular with students, I should know, my daughter Carsyn Marie took one of his classes and loved how entertaining he was as a speaker. In fact, she suggested I talk to him for my show.  She told me that Greg was studying the history of UFOs and possible alien life! Carsyn was right, Professor Eghigian is a good subject for Cans, Copy & Mic..

He sat down with me on campus inside the HUB and we talked about flying saucers, Roswell New Mexico, and Area 51 along with his interests in teaching.

  • The Illadelph Vape shop with $13,000+ bongs!
    2022/03/28

The Illadelph Vape shop has a priceless collection of Heady Glass bongs for sale, some costing as much as $13,000! I visit with Chris Green, Manager of Illadelph.  He educated me on the industry, the products available in PA, and showed me some of the most beautiful and unique sculptured glass bongs imaginable!

Many states are relaxing their restrictions regarding THC - CBD products.  Medical marijuana  isn't quite mainstream yet, but the tide is slowly turning.  There are a number of states that have legalized marijuana.  But Illadelph sells a lot of adult oriented products that have no THC in them, some great flavored tobacco, pipes, a large selection of bongs and cleaning supplies to keep merchandise sanitized.

I get an education about the industry in this podcast. Listen in and you will too!
