  • I know that you and I are struggling with three kinds of lust. In James 4:1, it is written, “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?” Here in 1 John, the Bible speaks of lust as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
    In fact, it is because these three kinds of lust that we struggle with our lives of faith and so often stumble over the things of the world. Because of this lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, our lives of faith are often interrupted, though we have been saved. And it saddens me deeply to see this happening.
