Chewing the plot

  • On this show we look to dive into, deconstruct and devour stories. Be it a cultural icon, cult hit, classical novel or hit film we're here to find out more about our favorite narratives and figure out just what made them the icons they are.

Every month we take a look at a story, tale or icon or whatever from our cultural history of being human and break it down to some anecdotes and pop culture references. Not only giving you an over view the narrative itself but asking why it's had such an impact on our culture and society as it has!

Whilst also giving us an excuse to read a lot of books, watch a bunch of films and not feel like we wasted out lives.

So join us as we once again Chew the plot.

    2021/12/03

This week it's the time of festive films and thus brings forth the question of what makes a Christmas film? Is it the snow? The songs? The presence of Santa or simply the fact it's based in December?

This week we are under the realm of Brett Knights once again as he brings us not his favourite Christmas film but one which we have all seen at one point or another and spawned two sequels. So it's got to be good right? That's right this Month for the last in the series for this year we're looking at Tim Allens breakout movie The Santa Clause.

So join us as we discuss the inconsistency in story, The darker side of the throw away jokes and Tim Allens shady past as we bring in the end of the year.

Marry Christmas from Chewing the plot.

  • Episode 12 - Stardust : Michael Fassbender as Yvaine
    2021/11/05

This week we settle into autumn with a film which takes place in summer. As we tackle the Neil Gaiman saga and Mathew Vaughn Film Stardust.

It's the pick of the month for Jen as she takes us to a magical land in the form of stormhold and we find out from Graham what makes the world tick and how many actors he can mistake for other actors within the first half hour.

It's fun it's witty, it has an oddly fierce fan base and the film comes from a director known for making drug and gangland movies so what can go wrong? right?

But join is once more for our penultimate episode of the year as we gradually chew through Stardust.
