Believe us, it doesn’t get any realer than this. 11 Days to Protect Our Rights: Why This Election Matters With only 11 days until election day, now is the time for our final message to anyone considering sitting this one out or voting third party. The stakes couldn’t be higher, especially for the LGBTQ community. This election will impact marriage equality, workplace protections, access to PrEP, housing rights, government employment (including military service), and women's reproductive rights like abortion, birth control, IUD, IVF, Mifepristone, the morning after pill, and yes, condoms. It will shape gun control, voting rights, and even the future of free speech. This isn’t hyperbole—the outcome will profoundly impact your everyday life. Hell, Republicans are even going after your porn. Porn Hub has already stopped operating in Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Utah, and Virginia. This includes gay porn, which has been upheld under the First Amendment but has been steadily eroded ever since by SCOTUS. The recent SCOTUS decision in Trump vs. United States grants unprecedented powers to the President, essentially making the office a monarchy. Under another Trump administration, there’s nothing to prevent an assault on our constitutional rights, including due process in our pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. Some might think that voting for Jill Stein, who reappears every four years like a cicada to disrupt elections, is a viable option. This misguided choice effectively hands the election to Trump. Voting for Kamala Harris, on the other hand, ensures your continued freedom to speak out on issues like the Middle East without risking violence or repression—a stark reality we could face if Trump returns to power and enacts martial law. I urge you to vote—vote early or drop off your absentee ballot at your nearest dropbox (not mail), as Rick and I will be doing today. This set is structured a bit differently from past efforts. We typically utilize key mixing for our podcasts, allowing for smoother transitions and a more pleasant listening experience. However, in this episode, the keys aligned perfectly, enabling us to load most of the Tea Dance-style tracks upfront before transitioning into the big circuit tribal beats you're accustomed to. Think of it as a slow build to the big room sound. Don't be fooled though, there's fire from the beginning. We have several notable entries, including the Superchumbo remix of the 80s gay anthem classic "Why" by Bronski Beat featuring a guest vocal by Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys. This was released in conjunction with a newly remastered and expanded edition of their queer classic "Age of Consent" album, a coming-of-age album for young queers in the early 80s. That song is quickly followed up by a remake of Madonna's "Into the Groove" by Drew G, surprisingly released around the same time as the Bronski Beat album in the 80s. Drew transforms the original dance groove into a big room scorcher, reimagining the song for late-night circuit audiences. There are countless Madonna remakes, but this version is truly one for the history books. Since we're on 80s throwbacks, Jace M & Toy Armada deliver the unexpected "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle. A proud LGBTQ+ community supporter and gay icon, Carlisle (of Go-Go's fame) shines in this remix. Jace and Toy's signature big room anthem style turns the giant pop song into a sweeping, hypnotic sing-along that captures the original's spirit. Don't miss it. Of course, we've got a plethora of new material from the diva of the moment, Chappell Roan, as well as Katy Perry, Kesha, Hayla, Anne-Marie, and the always fabulous Kylie Minogue (more on her in a moment). This set also features new and reworked songs from Gen X and Millennial divas like Erin Hamilton (RIP), Miss Suzanne Palmer, Anastacia, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Antoinette Roberson. As you can see, we've packed this set to the gills with old and new favorites that are bound to fuel your workouts for months to come. Mark isn't just a prodigious and talented DJ who helps keep many of our Circuit and Anthems sets glued together; he's also a businessman, entrepreneur, and a genuinely nice guy. The hot daddy aspect is just an added bonus. Party Favorz wanted to celebrate this edition with real people we know, and it's an honor that Mark shared a variety of photos with us to choose for the cover. He even shared more than we asked for, but let's just say, we're impressed. Tell him Party Favorz sent you. The Importance of Voting in 2024 As we celebrate Gay Pride month, it's crucial to address some pressing issues. It's an election year, folks, and it's the single most important one in our lifetime. It was true in 2016 when we urged everyone to vote for Clinton, but many couldn't get past the email controversy despite her being the most qualified person to ever run for office. Her loss resulted in a narcissistic, six-times-bankrupt, and morally corrupt individual holding the highest seat in our nation, which allowed him to install three conservative justices on the Supreme Court, giving them a majority. Since then, they've rolled back voting rights, overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade, and expanded religious liberties to the point where doctors and pharmacists can openly discriminate against women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community without fear of punishment through state laws barring discrimination. Effectively, they've polluted our Constitution and severely restricted our 14th Amendment rights, and they're only getting started. The Threats to LGBTQ Rights Many of the hard-fought rights LGBTQ people have fought for, like marriage equality, sodomy laws, and the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, have been won by the struggles and willingness of the gay community to fight for the equal rights we're guaranteed under the Constitution. Now, all of it—ALL OF IT—is on the chopping block. After overturning Roe v. Wade, Justice Thomas, in his concurring opinion, went even further, inviting lawsuits to overturn contraception and marriage equality.
