Difference Between FXO and FXS

  • サマリー

  • If you are also planning to integrate VoIP technology into your communication system, it is important to check the relevance of the FXO and FXS ports.

If you are looking for a media gateway that you can install on your VoIP network, you should know that it will probably have two different interfaces: FXO and FXS, and one for each of the different voice ports.

When you choose devices that allow you to connect to an analog phone, you often come across the terms FXS and FXO.

If you need to connect to one of the more conventional PBX systems, you can use an FXS or VoIP gateway. In this case, the FXS port of the analog switchboard must be connected to the VoIP / PBX, and the gateway itself must be connected to a VoIP / PBX.

The FXO port of an analog telephone is connected via the FXR port in the gateways and this gateway in turn is connected to another gateway that connects to the VoIP or PBX. If you need a FXO gateway for a VoIP system, you must also use the VoIP FXS gateway.

Hopefully the information in this episode has helped to clarify the differences between FXO and FXS ports.
