  • The Great Commission
    2024/09/15

Matthew 28:16-20 is a passage from the New Testament where Jesus gives His final instructions to His disciples after His resurrection. Here’s a summary:

The eleven remaining disciples go to a mountain in Galilee, as Jesus had directed them. When they see Him, they worship, though some still doubt. Jesus then approaches them and gives the Great Commission. He tells them that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. He commands them to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that He has commanded. He concludes by promising His continued presence, saying, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  • False Teachers: Godliness is a Means of Gain?
    2024/09/08

Today's message comes to you from 1 Timothy 6:5. In these verses, the Apostle Paul warns against anyone who teaches contrary to the sound doctrine of the Christian faith. He emphasizes that true teaching aligns with the teachings of Jesus Christ and promotes godliness. Paul describes individuals who deviate from this sound teaching as proud and lacking in understanding. They are depicted as being obsessed with disputes and arguments, which lead to envy, strife, malicious talk, and constant friction. Such behavior, Paul asserts, stems from a distorted view of godliness, where people believe that godliness is a means to worldly material gain. In essence, 1 Timothy 6:3-5 cautions against false teaching and emphasizes the importance of adhering to the core principles of Christian doctrine while maintaining a spirit of contentment and avoiding the pitfalls of materialism.

  • Greed is Bad
    2024/09/03
My name is Christopher J. Williams, and in December of 2009, I graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Following graduation, I had the privilege of helping to plant Sovereign Grace Church in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, where I served as co-senior pastor. However, in November of 2013, my life took an unexpected turn as I began experiencing severe medical issues, including necrotizing pancreatitis. These health challenges have been ongoing, and for a short period of time I was on life support. I am now battling chronic pancreatitis daily. Despite these hardships, God has continually placed a calling on my heart to share His Word. Though my medical condition prevents me from pastoring a church in the traditional sense, I believe God is guiding me to use my experiences and insights to reach others through this podcast. Whether you're a shut-in, dealing with your own medical challenges, or simply someone seeking to deepen your understanding of God's truth, this podcast is for you. My hope is to create a space where we can dive into Scripture together, grow in our faith, and draw closer to the God who sustains us through all of life's trials. This week’s sermon comes from 1 Timothy 6:6-10. In this passage, the Apostle Paul offers a powerful warning about the dangers of greed, highlighting the stark contrast between the pursuit of wealth and the pursuit of godliness. In this sermon through Paul’s words, we will explore how the love of money can lead to destructive behaviors and spiritual ruin, driving us away from the true contentment that comes from a life rooted in faith. Join us as we unpack these verses, uncovering the spiritual pitfalls of greed and discovering the freedom that comes from finding our ultimate satisfaction in God alone.
