  • Divorce Professionals Improving the Experience for Domestic Abuse Survivors
    2025/03/16
Divorce Professionals Improving the Divorce Experience for Domestic Abuse Survivors with Guest, Elle Barr, Attorney, GAL, OFW Education Coordinator, OFW from Pittsburgh, PA Today we are going to discuss The appointment of a GAL for the Secondary Victims. A GAL serves as a Family Court Judge's eyes and ears within the most contentious legal context in which children are involved in custody battles. The GAL's role is especially difficult when GAL represents children in cases where there has been domestic violence. Children exposed to domestic violence experience constant activation of their stress response system, which is particularly harmful during sensitive periods of brain development.
