Kemetic writings found in Alexandria's libraries were attributed collectively to Hermes, a Greek conception of the Egyptian deity Djehuti, patron of science, learning, and language. She was believed to have incarnated herself as a sage several times, and in the beginnings of Egyptian civilization, in the form of Hermes Trismegistus, also known as the "thrice greatest" because he had perfected the three sacred disciplines of medicine, architecture, and astronomy.

Egypt regarded Djehuti as the original teacher of sacred knowledge. His task was to write the secret books of the temples and possess the magical words of power used in temple rituals. He was known as Thoth-Hermes by the Greeks living in Egypt. Imhotep was revered as a patron saint of arcane teachings in the Old Kingdom. According to Egyptian Legend, his architectural canons constructed the Saqqara and Giza monuments. The Greeks and Romans believed these complexes were temples of initiation into the highest mysteries of religion. The Legend of Thoth/Hermes Trismegistus was thus born, with all the accompanying Hermetic attributes and historical lore derived from Graeco-Roman culture.

More than 3,000 years ago, Egypt's mystery schools epitomized secret wisdom and knowledge. Some contemporary scholars and researchers maintain that the great teachers who presided over the Egyptian mystery schools must have come from some extraordinary place, just as they did in ancient times.

According to Plato, the Kemetic Mystery System drew upon a wide spectrum of human knowledge. Math, writing, physical science, religion, and the supernatural were all covered, and tutors were priests and scholars.

According to Egyptian mythology, the universe emerged from an ocean of nothingness. This primordial sea, called Nun by the Egyptians, was home to the creator-sun god Atum for countless eons. A small island emerged from the cosmic sea when the creator god awoke.

It is nearly impossible to imagine Giza any different today with its desert backdrop and its majestic, sentinel-like pyramids that can't help but exude a sense of permanence.

Edfu's account, compiled from a series of now lost books attributed to the moon-god Thoth, allows us to reconstruct how the Giza plateau may have looked over 11,000 years ago.

Giza was built around a shallow lake, fed directly from the Nile if the texts were believed. This ecosystem is similar to what one might see today in equatorial Africa. If we find a time machine and travel back to this distant era, we would find a hot, humid atmosphere alive with lush green vegetation.

This hypothesis is not mere speculation, for it is known that the river used to flow closer to the plateau's edge in the past. In addition, evidence of a lake and dock dating back to Old Kingdom times has also been found beyond the plateau's western limits.

In the eyes of the Shining Ones, this would represent the primordial sea of chaos from which the first land appeared at the beginning of Time.
