 The effects are impressive and the deaths are quite significant, likely the most gruesome to date. It shares similarities with the other films in that aspect. However, it seemed like there were fewer fatalities, with more emphasis on family drama rather than building towards a climax. The train crash and some other effects were not flawless, but acceptable. One aspect that bothered me was that certain outdoor scenes appeared filmed in a studio.Additionally, it felt somewhat dull in parts, which I attribute mainly to the forgettable characters. The formula remains the same as in previous films, with only minor story additions, but overall it feels quite similar. The characters come off as more generic and safe. It's on par with part 4 but falls short compared to the others. I do appreciate that they finally clarified Tony Todd's character, putting to rest the speculation about his death.
