  • A former University of Virginia standout, Ahkeel helped lead the Cavaliers to the 2009 NCAA Division I National Championship as a freshman. Prior to college, Ahkeel collected all-America, all-state, all-city, and all-county honors as a star forward at Elmont Memorial High School. He totaled 74 goals and 52 assists during his prep playing career and was named Newsday’s Player of the Year in 2007 and 2008 before being recognized as a 2008 All-American by the NSCAA and ESPN RISE. He was a member of the U.S. Under-20 National Team that competed in the 2009 Copa Chivas Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico and a member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team at the Nike Friendly Tournament in 2007. Ahkeel earned his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Virginia in 2013, his master’s degree in School Counseling from Alfred University in 2022, and has held coaching positions at both the high school and collegiate level.
