Episode 1: Reflex versus Response

  • サマリー

  • Welcome to Episode 1 of the Reinventing Fatherhood podcast.

Today's topic is about reflexive reactions versus planned responses.

We're all wired to protect our children and the ones we love, and, so what we do is we react physically and kinaesthetically to certain situations.

I think is common for all of us is that when we reflexively react to something, then we're not able to actually figure out the impact it had, or what we're trying to actually do until much later. Generally, when we figured out that we reacted, there's a little bit of shame or guilt involved - it's kind of like we're running on adrenaline.

So if we end up yelling, or if we end up making somebody feel guilty, or if we respond physically, or if we end up just kind of creating sort of a traumatic situation, maybe that's overstating it, maybe it's not...

If you're looking to learn how to transition from making reflexive reactions to planned reactions, so you get to respond as a thoughtful and compassionate dad, this episode is for you
