Episode 16, diamonds are Héloïse Schapiro's best friends. (English version)

  • サマリー

  • After almost ten years spent working for the greatest jewelry houses of the Place Vendôme in Paris, Héloïse Schapiro decided in 2019 to launch Héloïse & Abélard : a jewelry brand that designs rings and necklaces out of recycled diamonds only.

What if, instead of constantly looking for new gemstones to mine out of the depths of the Earth, we focused on using those that have already been extracted? That is, in short, the mission that Héloïse Schapiro set for herself a little over two years ago, inspired by the century-old tradition of dismantling and reassembling jewelry pieces, and determined to revive our emotional relationship with diamonds. Today, Héloïse & Abélard – her company, named after the legendary medieval love story between a teacher and his student in 12th century Paris – offers its customers two types of services: on the one hand, bringing old family stones up to date. On the other hand, creating original pieces out of recycled stones which she is constantly on the lookout for. The end goal: to ensure that all diamonds get worn, and thus way spare the planet a particularly polluting extraction process.
