In today's episode, we meet Jason Ming, the general manager of Red Plate, a high-level Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas, NV. Jason's story and path are so incredibly unique, as he is also the first guest to be on the podcast that makes his living in the restaurant industry. We begin from high school....and I assure you that Jason started from the ground floor.....before starting his climb.....and he did it all on his own. We focus on Jason's story for the first part of the interview, before we get to all kinds of questions about what it takes to be an assistant manager or general manager of a fancy restaurant. I had so many questions about this life, as I have always been enamored with the restaurant world. We talk about the covid times, dealing with guests, what it takes to be successful....and also the relationship between restaurant management and teaching. Jason's craziest restaurant story with guests isn't to be missed. Before we finish, Jason asks me questions about what gives me my "juice" in teaching, as well as how to truly get to know teenagers. I am really proud of Jason and this interview, as I feel his outlook on life is one that anyone who has ever wanted something can relate to.
