FILMS I OWN BUT HAVEN'T WATCHED (YET)

  • サマリー

  • I love films, and my DVD / Blu-ray collection is forever growing. I pick up films all the time from charity shops, second hand from Facebook market place, and other places, picking up bundles at a time. However, it is growing at a rate that is definitely quicker than the speed at which I can watch them and so I now have a collection 100's of titles (and growing) that I still haven't got around to watching. And so, in this podcast series, I will be picking out a title each week and watching them for the first time, giving a little insight into each title and then a brief review.

This is a spin off from the WN MOVIE TALK PODCAST so if you enjoy this series, you have to check that one out for loads of hour long, in-depth and often hilarious movie discussion and analysis - available on most good podcast platforms

  • I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS (2009)
    2024/11/20

In the latest episode of the FILMS I OWN BUT HAVEN'T WATCHED YET podcast, a special spin-off from WN MOVIE TALK PODCAST, I dive into another film from my ever-expanding DVD collection. Tonight, I randomly picked the Jim Carrey real-life comedy-drama "I Love You Phillip Morris." Join me as I watch it for the first time and share my review!

I Love You Phillip Morris (2009): Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, "I Love You Phillip Morris" is a dark comedy-drama based on the true story of con artist Steven Jay Russell. Jim Carrey stars as Steven, a charismatic and flamboyant man who, after being imprisoned for his numerous scams, falls deeply in love with his fellow inmate, Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). The film follows Steven's relentless and often outrageous efforts to break out of jail and reunite with Phillip, showcasing his cunning and resourcefulness. Despite its humorous tone, the movie also delves into themes of love, identity, and the lengths to which one will go for the person they adore. Carrey's performance is both heartfelt and hilarious, making "I Love You Phillip Morris" a unique and captivating blend of comedy and drama.

  • THE TORMENT / THE POSSESSION OF DAVID O'REILLY (2008)
    2024/11/13

In the latest episode of the FILMS I OWN BUT HAVEN'T WATCHED YET podcast, a special spin-off from WN MOVIE TALK PODCAST, I dive into another film from my ever-expanding DVD collection. Tonight, I randomly picked the low-budget horror "The Torment." Join me as I watch it for the first time and share my review!

The Torment (2008): Also known as "The Possession of David O'Reilly," this British horror film is directed by Andrew Cull and Steve Isles. The story follows David O'Reilly (Giles Alderson), who arrives at the home of his friends Alex (Nicholas Shaw) and Kate (Zoe Richards) in a state of distress, claiming that his girlfriend has left him. As David's behavior becomes increasingly erratic, Alex and Kate begin to experience terrifying supernatural occurrences. Trapped in their apartment and unsure whether David is truly being tormented by demonic forces or if he is suffering from a mental breakdown, they must confront their deepest fears and the horrors that unfold. "The Torment" is a chilling exploration of paranoia and psychological terror, making the most of its low-budget with a claustrophobic atmosphere and suspenseful storytelling.

  • 21 (2008)
    2024/11/06

In the latest episode of the FILMS I OWN BUT HAVEN'T WATCHED YET podcast, a special spin-off from WN MOVIE TALK PODCAST, I dive into another film from my ever-expanding DVD collection. Tonight, it's the card-counting thriller "21." Join me as I watch it for the first time and share my review!

21 (2008): Directed by Robert Luketic, "21" is a high-stakes thriller inspired by the true story of a group of MIT students who mastered the art of card counting and took Las Vegas casinos for millions. The film stars Jim Sturgess as Ben Campbell, a brilliant but financially struggling student who is recruited by his math professor, Micky Rosa (Kevin Spacey), to join a secret blackjack team. Alongside fellow students Jill (Kate Bosworth), Choi (Aaron Yoo), Kianna (Liza Lapira), and Fisher (Jacob Pitts), Ben learns to count cards and outsmart the casinos. However, as their success grows, so do the risks, leading to a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with casino enforcer Cole Williams (Laurence Fishburne). "21" combines tension, excitement, and moral dilemmas, offering a gripping look at how intelligence and greed collide in the world of gambling.
