James taught, "For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice (Jam 3:16). This "wisdom of the world or of this age,” was (among many other matters) operating in the Corinthian church that had divided the congregation. A misinterpretation of the character Christ had become a source of disunity (1:12-14). In our focus text, Paul continues his admonishments of the people of God by addressing the root of their problem: Spiritual Immaturity.
