  • Jay Marten & The Early Birds Biography

Jay Marten (24) is a talented singer / songwriter and performer who makes alternative / southern rock together with his band called “Jay Marten & The Early Birds”. This band consists of rhythm guitarist Simon Bradley, bassist Deborah Jacobs and drummer Ludo de Groote. Inspired by bands such as Steppenwolf, The Doobie Brothers and Led Zeppelin, Jay Marten writes and records songs in his home studio. The psychedelic touch and vibrating grooves make you feel like you are being taken on a road trip in a car with chrome bumpers, long flared jeans, 8-track tapes and the love of your life next to you as you ride into the summer sundown.

From a young age, Jay Marten has been much more interested in 1970s music than that of most of his peers. The music of, among others, Queen and David Bowie already aroused the feeling of nostalgia in Jay Marten, while in reality he has no real memories of this time. The longing for a past that Jay Marten himself never lived he shows in his warm and dynamic sound that sounds as if it came straight from an old vinyl found in a thrift shop. In the song “Anemoia Meltdowns” Jay Marten describes that he would have loved to grow up during this time and wanted to discover his favorite musical acts for the first time in the prime of their career.
