あらすじ・解説
In November, on the clarion call of Dilli Chalo, thousands of farmers marched towards the national capital demanding rollback of the three controversial farm laws. However, they were met with water cannons, tear gas shells and blockades. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration deployed heavy police personnel along with the jawans of Border Security Force (BSF) to stop the farmers’ march. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is claiming that the protesting farmers are being misled by his political opponents, the farmers’ organisations are accusing the BJP-led Central government of trying to crush the voice of dissent. The world’s biggest farmers’ agitation, under the banner of United Farmers’ Front, is mounting pressure on the BJP government by blocking Delhi’s border at different points. A podcast by Asiaville- From Farms to Delhi Durbar - explores why thousands of farmers were forced to hit the streets amid a pandemic. Listen to the first part of the podcast to understand how the world’s biggest farmers’ agitation took shape.
