With the Russian Army coming in from the East and the US and Allies coming in from the West, many German citizens tried to escape to the US and Ally side of Germany as the country collapsed. Russian soldiers were raping, killing and plundering every German they found. As a 12 year old girl Irmgard Dixon escaped exploding trains, fields of death and bodies, nightly bombings, cold and starvation. She survives to become a Civil Engineer than later marries Gary Dixon and immigrates to the US to raise a great family, while her husband dedicates his life to the US Military.
