  • Campfire Tales: Cryptid Cocktail Party - The Gurning Man of Glasgow (Bonus episode)
    2025/07/17

Here's an episode in your feed for a potential new bonus series (maybe?) called Campfire Tales! In this upload, I want to introduce you to one of my FAVORITE podcasts out there, Cryptid Cocktail Party! If you haven't listened before, here's your chance, and then you can binge all their episodes over on their feed. If you dig what we do, you'll love their show. Dave and Sarge put on a great show, evidenced by them winning Best Cryptid Podcast last year at the Parapod Awards! And who wouldn't love a show sponsored by Narragansett!? (Crush it like Quint!)

Go subscribe to the show, and follow them on Instagram @cryptidcocktail and TikTok @cryptidcocktailparty

    Their description for this episode:

Welcome back to another episode of Cryptid Cocktail Party! This week, we dive into some relatively recent Scottish folklore and talk about the absolutely nightmarish entity known as the Gurning Man of Glasgow. Is he just a man? A ghost? Or something interdimensional? We have no idea. But we try to figure out!

    2025/07/09

This week we're hanging out on the side of Lake Ontario while discussing Toronto's own cryptid, the Tunnel Monster of Cabbagetown. Join us to learn about this one-off cryptid's encounter with a man named Ernest, but stick around as we discuss our favorite cabbage recipes and forget the James McAvoy's name. Is the TMOC a random sewer-dwelling man, or does it have a connection to the history of the area?! Curl up by the fire with us to find out!

  • Black Stick Men: Spooky bathroom signs
    2025/07/02

This week we're staying local to discuss the global Black Stick Men phenomenon. As if a kid's drawing or the bathroom sign gender identifier stepped out of its 2D world and entered our reality, the Black Stick Men can pop up anywhere. Though these cryptids seem simple, we get into discussions about simulation theory, lower dimensionality, Gumby, shadow people comparisons, and video game animation bones!

  • The Ropen: Light bird from young Earth
    2025/06/25

This week we're going international again and making camp on Umboi Island off the coast of Papa New Guinea! While sampling the local fruits, we discuss the Ropen, another giant flying cryptid that emits light (but not exactly like the Van Meter Visitor). We dig into its characteristics and eating habit before tripping into a discussion about Young Earth Creationism and how the Ropen itself opens up the possibility for a 6,000 to 10,000 year old Earth! So gather around the campfire and learn about this (pre)historic, potentially narrative-changing monster!
