Organic gardening specialist and creator of Riverview Living Soils, first time GrowCast Guest Ricky joins the program! Ricky talks about how he got started in the cannabis industry, and what led him to create his own soil company. This leads to a conversation about home soil gardening and Ricky discusses some basic fundamentals that are a great starting point for home grown success. Ricky goes a layer deeper and also talks about some of pitfalls that home growers face, with an emphasis on data collection and adjusting based on grow metrics. Specifically, Ricky recommends using moisture meters to get specific readings on your soil, as well as using light meters to detect PPFD and make sure you aren't over saturating your plants- especially in veg!

He discusses what it's like to grow boutique low thc flower, and how the genepool is so much more limited than the traditional type 1 hybrid pool. This leads to a conversation about processing these types of strains, and how difficult it is to find a good washer within the limited CBD and CBG dominant gene pools. Shawn also shares his thoughts on the benefits of CBG and how ancillary cannabinoids can alter your experience.
