  • 12: Sitters As Injury-Hit Arsenal Hold Utd, Deadline Day, Lampard Fired + Inconsistency To Cost Utd?
    2021/02/02

We record this episode on Deadline Day for the January 2021 transfer window with a special longer episode with many big topics including our review on the big clash against each other as Arsenal and Manchester United play out a rather entertaining goalless draw at the Emirates with huge missed chances for both sides, with the Gunners missing some key players against a full-strength United side. We also react to a big 3-1 win for Arsenal away at Southampton including how Mikel Arteta is slowly buying Danny’s respect back in his uphill climb through the league table. Also covered is United’s horror 2-1 defeat at home to bottom-of-the-league Sheffield United and Robin’s take on how inconsistency and naivety from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side could cost the Devils in their title challenge.

Other topics covered include our condemnation of racism after recent racial abuse towards footballers, our reaction to Chelsea’s sacking of club legend Frank Lampard and replacing him with Thomas Tuchel, with previews for crucial Midlands trips for Arsenal to Wolves and Aston Villa as well as United welcoming tough teams to Old Trafford themselves in Southampton and Everton. Also we look ahead to the crucial month of February with springtime and the business end of the season looming, including key Europa League knockout action to come for both sides. Look out for a surprise in the Player/Stinker of the Gameweek segment this episode!

As the current transfer window closes for this winter, we look back on overall business and give our own clubs a rating on how they handled their business in the past month, with more deals happening on Deadline Day reported and especially so for Danny’s Arsenal with more deadwood and youngster loan outgoings to add to the incoming signings of Martin Ødegaard and Mat Ryan and we also discuss whether those loan deals could potentially become permanent. Robin also comments on the lack of transfer activity at Old Trafford, and much more covered in a prolonged action-packed episode!

  • 11: Cup Holder Arsenal OUT, Utd BEAT Liverpool, Arsenal vs Utd Preview + Ødegaard/Ryan Join Gunners!
    2021/01/25

It’s heartbreak for Arsenal and ecstasy for United this week as our eleventh episode sees us rant and react to FA Cup holders Arsenal being dumped OUT of the competition in only the 4th round with a 1-0 defeat at Southampton, as well as Manchester United battling past arch-rivals Liverpool to win 3-2 and sneak through to the 5th round in an absolute thriller.

We speak on Mikel Arteta’s surprising lineup changes, differences within the club and whether Arsenal have now lost the opportunity to win another trophy this season, as well as how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has bettered his side to outsmart Jürgen Klopp, keep United in the cup and also in the league title race.  We also preview midweek clashes against Southampton away again but this time in the league for the Gunners and Sheffield United at home for the Devils... before looking ahead to the BIG ONE as our teams face each other yet again at the Emirates with our preview and predicted score/line-ups and also debate how a win for either side could be significant to continuing to build our foundations this season.

Other topics we discuss include our final thoughts on Mesut Özil who has now officially left Arsenal to sign for Fenerbahçe, his mistreatment and his farewell message to Arsenal fans, as well as massive transfer news with Arsenal getting his replacement in the loan signing of Real Madrid’s young Norwegian playmaker Martin Ødegaard agreeing to sign for the North London club, with our reaction and insight into what a brilliant signing he could turn out to be, as well as a player profile and who he is. We also talk about Mat Ryan being brought in from Brighton as a backup keeper, United targeting big summer signings and some more outgoings for both clubs.

  • 10: GoalLESS Galore, Robin Instant Reaction As Utd Stay Top + Danny Tribute To Departing Mesut Özil!
    2021/01/18

We return for our 10th episode (already?) with Robin giving his instant reaction as we record straight after Manchester United’s goalless draw against rivals Liverpool seeing them remain top of the league for the time being, as well as thoughts on the 1-0 win away at Burnley thanks to Paul Pogba’s goal and what it means for their continuing title push. We also review Arsenal’s own 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace as their recovery takes a stutter leaving them still in the bottom half of the league, with looks ahead to midweek Premier League action against Fulham for United and Newcastle awaiting Arsenal, as well as reaction to the FA Cup 4th round draw with Liverpool for the Devils and Southampton/Shrewsbury drawn for the Gunners. We drop our Player of the Gameweek and introduce a brand new segment called STINKER of the Gameweek, where we give our team’s disappointing player from the past week (with some surprising selections!).

Robin EXCLUSIVELY reveals for the first time whether he is still Ole Out during the current run of great form, and we discuss how the wide open league and various surrounding teams could keep the title and top four race unpredictable until the end of the season, as well as Liverpool’s injury issues! It’s a week for the defenders rather than attackers as we give our plaudits to the defensive-minded players performing currently, question how injuries can jeopardise our teams significantly and also investigate what has happened to out-of-form striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang? Danny pays a tribute to Arsenal’s departing playmaker Mesut Özil as he lands in Turkey to sign for Fenerbahçe, as we look back on some of his greatest moments and goals in an Arsenal shirt and how he was mistreated in his latter days, as well as discuss why he is the best ever Arsenal player in the Emirates era, with well wishes given to him for the future.

Transfer links continue to stir up midway through the January window as Arsenal look urgently for a number 10 replacement for Özil, with left-back, midfield and goalkeeper cover also seeked. United look to build on Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s departure with a centre-back, right-back and a star forward also being targeted. Despite the lack of goals on the pitch this week, there’s still plenty of footballing topics to cover, hope you enjoy and keep the support coming!

  • 9: Mesut Özil’s Legacy, ESR Saves Cup Defence, Utd Lose Another Semi + 3rd Lockdown To Affect Footy?
    2021/01/11

As we start yet another lockdown, we return with our reviews on the first FA Cup weekend, with Arsenal beginning their defence of the trophy via winning goals from Emile Smith-Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a tense extra time clash against Newcastle with continuing plaudits for Kieran Tierney’s and Bernd Leno’s contribution, and Man Utd beating Watford 1-0 in the competition but losing yet another semi-final under Ole as they are dumped out of the EFL Cup to rivals Manchester City, with the value of United’s squad depth discussed as well as why Axel Tuanzebe and Donny van de Beek should be included more.

We debate whether Arsenal winger Nicolas Pépé could be like VDB in not being able to show his talent due to lack of game time, and investigate what is happening with Aubameyang’s overall form as of late. We also continue with our new segment Player Of The Gameweek and tease another individual player “award” for the coming episodes... watch this space. With midweek seeing us return straight back to Premier League action, we give our previews and predictions for Arsenal hosting Crystal Palace in a bid to continue their four-match winning run and recovery up the table, while United play their game in hand at Burnley before a crucial title clash with champions Liverpool at the weekend that could well solidify their title challenge.

Other subjects include the new UK national lockdown and how it may or may not affect football over the next weeks/months along with how it has already been impacted while arguing why we don’t think there should be a circuit break, as well as reminiscing Mesut Özil’s legacy and success he brought to Arsenal during his time as he reportedly nears a move to Fenerbahçe. In another January transfer window episode, we look at David Ornstein’s comments of Arsenal looking at a “world class number 10” to replace Özil and discuss the options as well as why Mikel Arteta’s priority is to get deadwood out before signing players, with Sokratis, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun linked with moves away. United links include their own outgoings in Jesse Lingard, Sergio Romero etc with a young defensive midfielder rumoured for an incoming. We also touch upon Wilfried Zaha’s comments on his 2019 Arsenal move being snubbed, and more as always!
