Are there techniques we can model and use to prepare kids and teens to handle whatever comes their way? Psychologist and author Dr. Mary Alvord joins us today to enlighten us on all that and more.

    Dr. Mary K. Alvord, PhD is an adjunct associate professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC, and is the founder of Alvord, Baker & Associates in Rockville, Maryland. She is the past president of the American Psychological Association’s Division on Society for Media Psychology and Technology, and served as the APA's public education coordinator for the Maryland Psychological Association. Dr. Alvord has won numerous awards and frequently appears in the media, including interviews for the New York Times, CNN, NPR, USA Today, and the Washington Post. She is the co-author of several books on wellness techniques for children and teens, and founded a non-profit charity, Resilience Across Borders, Inc., to promote mental health services to youth.

    Dr. Sabrina Falquier, MD, CCMS is a physician who is board certified in Internal Medicine, Culinary Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Falquier worked as a primary care doctor for a prestigious multi-specialty group in San Diego, California, for over 15 years. In 2020 she founded Sensations Salud, which focuses on awakening the senses around ingredient acquisition and food preparation while empowering people to better health through nutritional knowledge and culinary literacy within their culinary medicine education and consulting. Among other leadership roles, she is on the advisory board of the Culinary Medicine Specialist Board, focusing on permeating culinary medicine into medical schools, health systems, the food service industry and the community.
